The Green is now well into its 2nd week since re-opening and there have been plenty of rink bookings from members happy to play a singles format under the restricted guidelines. The weather has been very kind. Some of the feedback we have received from members would like to see the rules/protocols relaxed but as a club we will still wish to err on the side of caution, with safety considerations being paramount.

One very minor change. The club is able to agree to more than 2 players on a rink when they are from the same household. We appreciate this affects only a very few members. Please be particularly watchful if you have any children/juniors on the Green to ensure they keep to the same protocols as everybody else. Thanks.

It is still early days, but we naturally want to implement a relaxation of the current rules as soon as it is deemed safe to do so. The situation is being kept under close review and I will up-date members with any news later next week. Only club members may play on the Green for the time being

One last point, while the clubhouse remains closed, the first aid box and defibrillator can be found in the equipment shed.

Greg Laurenson and James Woolerton would like to offer members an individual or even paired coaching sessions (if from the same household). The target membership are those bowlers who were new to the club in the seasons 2018 and 2019. Coaching sessions will last for just an hour and will normally be held on a midweek evening but occasionally week-end sessions may also be available.

Both Greg and James are fully qualified coaches and equally importantly they are both very approachable and friendly. The sessions are free so if you think there is capacity for an improvement in your knowledge and bowling delivery on the Green, then these guys are the ones to contact.  Please communicate by e-mail directly to either or

With the season having started and the expectation that it will be getting busier down the club over the next few weeks, the Tuesday morning working party is resuming its activities. No great formalities, Robin Lunn generally takes the lead in sorting out weekly priorities and the tasking of any work that needs to be done. No special skills are required, just a willingness to help out in the club house, on the Green and surrounds on a fairly regular basis. The session is usually for a couple of hours between 8.00am and 10.00am. Please can you give Rob a ring on 07876715894 if you think you may be able to help. Any offers will be much appreciated.

Another volunteer is also requested to help out June Birch on light gardening duties around the Green surrounds, also on a Tuesday morning between 8.00am and 10.00am. June tells me  that although she is allowing for between 1-2 hours (max) to begin with, it is expected that gardening maintenance will reduce to less than an hour per week (for a twosome) as the season progresses.

An offer of help would be much appreciated, by telephoning June on 07510590918

June Birch has more than one string to her bow ! She also looks after the supply of all club clothing, so if you are short of anything, June is the person to contact (07510590918).

Best wishes, take care and keep safe
